Bolete Butterscotch Pudding

This project is my first time designing for a client. Bolete is a James Beard nominated and nationally recognized restaraunt located in the Lehigh Valley. Our assignment was to take their signature butterscotch pudding and design branding, packaging, social media strategies, and website integration so they can market their pudding to the national level.

Softwares Used: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Pacdora

The Process

As per the brief we were given, we conceptualized 3 design directions for the product. My first direction was inspired by a more modern design, really attemptng to appeal to a younger demographic than Bolete's current customer base. With bold, saturated colors and a catchy name, it was the most different from their existing brand. My second direction took inspiration from the pride Bolete takes in the fact that they are farm to table, sustainable eating. I also chose the name because Bolete is Latin for 'mushroom,' and Dulcia is Latin for 'sweets.' My last direction pulled its concept from the history of Bolete and their building. The house had been converted from an old stable house, and there was such a rich history that I wanted to pay homage to. This direction is most similar to their existing branding.

The Final Design

At the midterm point, we met with Bolete and presented our directions. They decided which of the three we were going to continue with. They loved my historical building design, but wanted me to combine it with the modern and whimsical elements from my first direction. So I removed the ornamental swirls, switched to a landscape layout, and changed the display typeface to be more calligraphic.
